Well-designed invites will improve your response rate and it all depends on who you’re inviting! A birthday invite for a child is always fun – especially when you design it to include the things they love. The bowling birthday invitation was created for Johan who absolutely loves The Simpsons and Futurama – so I needed to get them into the design without detracting from the bowling party message. Solution: add images of his most favourite characters as players!
On the other end of the scale are the professional, luxury looking corporate invites for special events. You can see from the BBC Worldwide examples that I needed to reflect the elegance of the venue, Cannes, in the design. Hence the use of a large serif font for the main message, allied with a clear sans serif font for the body text. On the reverse of the designs I needed to include a clear, but simplistic, map to the venue to ensure the recipient knew exactly where the event was being held – as during the Cannes Film Festival there’s a party at every hotel!
The Cambridge University Press invite needed to reflect other materials, posters, adverts and large format banners, that I designed for their attendance at the B(A)MC conference.
